JOSH Simpson has admitted he would be keen to extend his stay with Southend United.

The on loan Peterborough United midfielder, who will line up against Morecambe at Roots Hall tomorrow, has caught the eye for Blues this season.

And he would be keen to stay beyond January, when his initial loan spell expires.

“I would definitely like to stay for longer because I’m really enjoying being here,” said Simpson, 23.

“It’s still probably too early to know exactly what might happen because it’s only really been five or six weeks but at the moment I just want to keep on playing games and putting in good performances to get us up the league.

“Then come November or December time we will have to see where my future lies but I would be interested in staying because I’m enjoying getting games again.”

Simpson’s next outing will come against bottom of the table Morecambe this weekend.

But the midfielder knows Blues cannot afford to take anything for granted.

“The league table doesn’t really mean anything and we need to put in a good performance to beat them,” said Simpson.

“It won’t be easy but we will go out there to get three points and bounce back from losing at Northampton.”
