THURROCK based motor racing team AmD Milltek Racing.com heads for Doning-ton Park for this weekend’s penultimate round of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

And driver Shaun Hollamby is hoping he will have an advantage over his rivals at the Leicestershire circuit.

Hollamby experienced the revisions made to the track at last week’s BTCC press day at the newly refurbished circuit, where he gave rides to journalists in Milltek’s Audi TT RS.

“The new Goddards Chicane layout is slower on the way in but quicker on the exit,” he said.

“We will be appoaching the first corner, Redgate, probably 5-10mph quicker than with the old layout, which will catch a few people out!”

Hollamby will be back in AmD Milltek Racing’s Volkswagen Golf this weekend and will be looking to continue the steady progress that his team has made during their debut season in the championship, culminating in their best result of the season so far last time out with a 13th place finish at Knockhill in Scotland.

“We finished all three race at Knockhill and doubled our independent teams’ and drivers’ championship points totals,” Hollamby added.

“We were also much closer to the pace, with our qualifying time just 1.7 seconds from Alex MacDowall’s new pole position record time.”

Support for the team should not be in short supply at Donington Park — with main sponsor Milltek Sport based just down the road in Derby — and Hollamby will be hoping for another strong performance before the championship’s finale at the team’s local circuit, Brands Hatch, on October 10.

Live coverage of Sunday’s three BTCC races from Donington Park will be shown on ITV4.
