A SERIOUS accident involving four vehicles closed Sutton Road for six hours today.
Police, ambulance, fire crews and two air ambulances attended the scene at the junction with Chandlers Way and Fossetts Way.
Several people were trapped. A 68-year-old woman from Hockley has been taken to Royal London hospital with serious injuries and a two-year-old boy sustained serious injuries.
A 55-year-old man from Rayleigh has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
The road has now been reopened.
