A Wickford man has been arrested following a crash in which a motorcyclist died.
The incident happened in Main Road, Rettendon Common, at 3.35pm on Sunday.
A white Honda motorbike, ridden by a 54-year-old man from the Romford area, was involved in a collision with a Ford Focus.
The rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said he was not taking part in that day’s annual Dunton to Harwich bike ride, in aid of Essex Air Ambulance.
The car driver, a 22-year-old Wickford man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been released on police bail until mid-November, pending further inquiries.
It follows another fatal accident the previous Sunday along the same stretch of road.
James Lawton, 52, from Ingate-stone, died in a crash about 400 yards away from the second accident.
